The super popular NDS and NDSL and the NDSi are a fantastic innovation in hand held gaming consoles, unfortunately they are quite easily broken, commonly from siblings fighting over them, or from drops and knocks. The good news is that most damages can be fixed for under $100.

Sorry but we are no longer offering postal services for NDS repairs. We may offer them again
in the future, but for now we are not doing them. We will soon be adding high quality DIY
video tutorials for most NDS repairs to our new website Supermodchips.com.au.

Common NDS repair services

~Broken hinge~

This is by far the most common repair for the NDSL console. It is most commonly the right hinge that is damaged. Unfortunately
to repair this you need to replace the ENTIRE NDSL case, which is surprisingly fiddly and time consuming as the entire guts of the NDSL needs to be transferred to a new case.

Commonly the NDSL will only turn on for about a second after the hinge has broken. This is because the very fragile ribbon
cable connecting the top screen to the bottom runs through the left hinge, if this is dislodged or damaged at all the NDSL won't turn
on properly. If the ribbon cable is just dislodged there is no extra charge. But if the ribbon cable is damaged then you will need to
replace the ENTIRE top screen as the ribbon cables can not be replaced alone.

Case replacement only - $60
Case and top screen replacement - $115
We will only know if the screen needs replacing after opening the case up and inspecting it, if it does need replacing we
will give you your old damaged screen to show you that we have indeed replaced the screen.

~Damaged touch screen~
Service Cost: $50

You require a replacement touch screen if the bottom screen picture is visible, but is not responding to touch.
Or if there are cracks or scratches on the touch screen. If the bottom picture is not showing then you likely need to replace the
bottom screen (see below) instead.

NDSL (NDS Lite) touch screen - $30
NDS touch screen - $30
NDSi touch screen - Not available yet

~Damaged bottom screen~
Service Cost: $60

You require a replacement bottom screen if the bottom picture is not visable. If it is just the touch response that is
not working you need a replacement touch screen instead (see above).

NDSi bottom screen - not available yet

~Damaged Case~
Service Cost: 60

Whether this to replace a damaged case or to just change the color of your NDS, your
NDS will look brand new after a replacement case :) See 'broken hinge' for more details.

~Damaged top screen~
Service Cost: $70

You need a replacement top screen if the top screen no longer shows any image, or of there is an obvious crack in it.

Cost of parts to do it yourself:
NDS top screen: $35
NDSL top screen: $35
NDSi top screen: not available yet

~NDS won't turn on~
Service Cost: $40

This could be due to either a blown fuse or a damaged on/off switch.

Cost of parts to do it yourself:
NDS on/off switch $20
NDSL on/off switch - $20
NDSi on/off switch - not available yet
includes replacement on/off switch and special screwdriver for opening the DS case, you don't need a replacement fuse see instructions (express or registered post extra $4)

~Jammed or broken game socket~
Service Cost: $60

This is usually because a child has stuffed something into the game socket besides a game.... chocolate for instance :)
Or it it may be just because your NDS is no longer recognizing that there is game inserted.
